About Jesse

Jesse Mayfield-Sheehan has been working in sports journalism since 2011, and has been working as a full-time freelance sports broadcaster since 2019. Jesse has been broadcasting events across a myriad of different sports, including Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Softball, Field Hockey, Rugby, and Wrestling.

Operating as a one-man production, Jesse not only provides the play-by-play and color commentary for the live broadcasts, but also operates the camera, and manages the on-screen scorebug, stat graphics, instant replay system, and all other technical aspects of the live stream. He also mentors student broadcasters that sometimes join him as guest commentators, providing experience and advice that can help them on their own broadcasting journeys.

Jesse has served as the main broadcaster for Brookline High School in Brookline, MA, Newman School in Boston, MA, and the MetroWest Golden Badgers, a semi-pro football team based out of Framingham, MA. He has also done broadcasts for several other schools — including Boston Trinity Academy, Newton South High School, Milton Academy, Boston University Academy, and Lexington Christian Academy — other semi-pro football teams — including the Mass Warriors, Connecticut Thundercats and Silver City Wolves — and other leagues — including the New England Football League, the Ted Williams Baseball League, and Brookline Youth Baseball.

Jesse has also worked as a play-by-play commentator in broadcasts with full production crews for organizations like the Boston Neighborhood Network, NFHS Network, and ASPNHD. He has also worked as a PA Announcer for Sudbury Youth Football.

Before his work as a freelance broadcaster, Jesse built a multifaceted resume across the sports media landscape. After graduating from UMass Amherst in 2015 with a degree in sports journalism, Jesse began his professional career as a Production Assistant at NESN, the local broadcast station for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, before switching over to the print side as a sports reporter for various local newspapers.

He spent the next four years working for The Madisonville Messenger in Kentucky, The Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut and the Keene Sentinel in New Hampshire, winning four state journalism awards along the way, including First Place for Best Sports Feature Story from the Kentucky Press Association in 2016. He also provided play-by-play and color commentary for several high school games during his time in Madisonville, and regularly appeared on a weekly radio sports talk show.
