About Jesse

Jesse Mayfield-Sheehan began his sportscasting career at the age of 12 — when he attended the Scholastic Play-by-Play Sports Broadcasting Camp at Boston University — and has been moving forward ever since.

​After four summers of broadcasting camp, Jesse joined the year-round broadcast program Young Broadcasters of America, where he appeared on weekly sports talk shows on radio and online. He also provided color commentary for a World TeamTennis match featuring the Boston Lobsters that aired on Peabody Access TV, and interviewed famous sports figures like Cedric Maxwell, Jim Courier and John Isner.

Jesse built a multifaceted resume during his time as a journalism student at UMass Amherst, working his way up to leadership positions at both the school newspaper and TV station while also interning for professional media companies like NESN, ABC and PBS.

After graduating in 2015, Jesse began his professional career as a Production Assistant at NESN, the local broadcast station for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, before switching over to the print side as a sports reporter for various local newspapers.

He spent the next four years working for The Madisonville Messenger in Kentucky, The Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut and the Keene Sentinel in New Hampshire, winning four state journalism awards along the way, including First Place for Best Sports Feature Story from the Kentucky Press Association in 2016. He also provided play-by-play and color commentary for several high school games during his time in Madisonville, and regularly appeared on a weekly radio sports talk show.

After his time in print, Jesse decided to return to his first love of sports broadcasting, leaving his job at the Sentinel and returning to his hometown of Brookline, MA, to begin his work as a freelance videographer and play-by-play broadcaster.
